Pe'epe'e Falls (Boiling Pots)

Prepare to be captivated at Peʻepeʻe Falls (pronounced Peh-eh-peh-eh), a spectacular natural wonder nestled within Wailuku River State Park. Witness the powerful cascades of water dramatically tumbling into a unique series of terraced pools, famously known as the 'Boiling Pots' due to their bubbling, churning appearance. Surrounded by lush, verdant rainforest, this breathtaking viewpoint offers incredible opportunities for photography and serene moments of appreciation. Your expert guide will bring the landscape to life, sharing the fascinating Hawaiian legends and geological insights associated with this mesmerizing area, all from safe and accessible viewing points.

Rainbow Falls

Discover the impressive Rainbow Falls, a signature natural landmark in Hilo, nestled within Wailuku River State Park. This picturesque cascade plunges approximately 80 feet into a spacious pool, creating a magnificent spectacle. Its most alluring attribute is the vibrant rainbow that frequently graces the mist when morning sunlight illuminates the waters, lending the site its magical name. Enveloped by rich tropical growth, the locale provides a serene environment for enjoyment. An accessible observation deck ensures an excellent perspective to admire the dynamic flow and capture memorable images.

Banyan Drive, Hilo

Experience the serene beauty of Banyan Drive, famously known as the 'Hilo Walk of Fame,' during a comfortable drive through this iconic Hilo landmark. This historic avenue is graced by an impressive canopy of colossal banyan trees, each one personally planted by renowned figures like celebrities, world leaders, and dignitaries since the early 20th century. From the comfort of your private vehicle, your Wayfind Hawaii expert will share captivating stories behind these living monuments and the notable individuals who left their mark, offering a unique glimpse into Hawaii's past amidst a picturesque setting.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park invites you to a compelling destination on the Big Island. This cherished area, recognized for its ever-changing volcanic terrain and profound cultural background, is home to Kīlauea and encompasses vast areas of Mauna Loa, two of Earth's most active volcanoes. Visitors here gain an extraordinary opportunity to observe nature's immense might. Covering over 330,000 acres, the park showcases varied habitats, from thriving rainforests to stark lava expanses. During your private journey through this awe-inspiring locale, you will experience the following pivotal sites:
  • Kīlauea Visitor Center (or current park orientation point)
  • Kīlauea Overlook
  • Steam Vents (Wahinekapu / Haʻakulamanu)
  • Nāhuku (Thurston Lava Tube)
  • Volcano House

Tree Molds

Witness the Tree Molds within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, striking elements revealing the region's ancient history. These distinct casts come about when liquid rock coursed through wooded zones, surrounding arboreal forms. As the plant life within faded over time, it left behind empty, cylindrical cavities in the solidified rock, maintaining the outline and surface feel of the former timber. This special setting is also where your private group will enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch.

Punalu'u Black Sand Beach

Visit Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach, a distinctive coastal gem on the Big Island's southeastern edge. This awe-inspiring shore features deep black sands, the result of ancient lava meeting the cool ocean. Bordered by graceful coconut palms, the tranquil expanse offers a calming place for travelers to unwind and soak in the surrounding allure. It's a prime location for encountering Hawaiian green sea turtles, often found warming themselves on the dark, heated sand.

Punalu'u Bake Shop

Enjoy a sweet interlude at Punaluʻu Bake Shop, positioned adjacent to the famed black sands on Hawaii's southeastern side. As the southernmost bakery in the United States, this destination is celebrated for its delectable Hawaiian sweetbreads and a wide variety of delightful confections. Guests can savor warm, fresh-from-the-oven treats, including their highly-regarded malasadas (Portuguese-style doughnuts), specialty loaves, and various island-inspired delights. This is a perfect occasion to purchase these freshly baked goods and local souvenirs to take with you.

Ka'u Region Coffee Farm (Final Stop)

Our concluding stop brings your group to a valued coffee farm in the Kaʻū region. This location, known for its specific coffee type, offers travelers an important understanding of the island's coffee production. Here, guests can have coffee samples, and may buy coffee drinks and gifts at their own expense. Your guide may also offer a brief farm stroll, showing you more about the growing methods, as you enjoy the calm surroundings of this green agricultural land.
