The lively and winding Ping River flows beneath the imposing Chiang Dao mountain, offering picturesque photo opportunities at every turn as we venture south across the valley. Navigating the river's demanding contours can be challenging, particularly when the creek-like features require us to stay on course.

For those seeking to hone their kayaking skills, this is an excellent spot. Life along the riverbanks is tranquil, with locals tending to their farms and fishing at a leisurely pace. Snorkeling for crabs along the riverbanks is a common sight, underscoring the importance of living off the land in this area.

As we paddle downstream towards Chiang Dao town, the pristine waters of the Mae Ping are fed solely by the clean spring rainwater that flows through the forest and farmland upstream. Chiang Dao is truly the finest valley to paddle Northern Thai countryside.
